PA6BT Active Full Range Compact Personal Stage Monitor

5.0 (8 reviews)

The original mic-stand-mountable Powered Hot Spot Full Range Compact Personal Monitor with controls right at your fingertips.

Galaxy Audio’s PA6BT Powered Hot Spot continues to be the industry standard in compact near-field live stage vocal monitoring. By minimizing the audio footprint and positioning the monitor in closer proximity to the performer, stage clutter and noise are drastically reduced for a more professional appearance and performance. The lightweight portability of Galaxy Audio compact monitors makes them ideal for gigging musicians and smaller stage venues.

The Powered HOT SPOT® PA6BT personal monitor focuses on live vocal reproduction. The need for a near-field vocal monitor became apparent as stage volumes became increasingly more difficult to control.  The Powered HOT SPOT® PA6BT offers the perfect solution for many live stage and portable PA applications. The PA6BT can be mounted on a microphone stand, positioning the monitor in closer proximity to the user and reducing feedback on stage. The mic stand socket and included mic stand adapter on the PA6BT are designed for use with most mic stands. The integrated handle, mic boom mount, and built-in bracket mount points, combined with the optional MBA (mic boom adaptor), allow a gooseneck or microphone boom to be mounted on top of the unit for a clean monitor set-up.

Many performers purchase cumbersome 12″ or 15″ floor monitors, roll off the low end and crank up the volume in order to cut through the mix. The Full Range PA6BT’s front facing EQ allows the performer to boost the mid-range, and minimal distance to the performer reduces stage volume and feedback. Galaxy Audio Compact Monitors feature a small, lightweight design, making it easier to transport and is the perfect choice for audio clarity and articulation in hostile stage environments.

The Original Near-Field Compact Personal Vocal Monitor is still the preferred choice by audio professionals worldwide.

The Details.
The PA6BT takes full advantage of recent improvements in speaker and amplifier technology, making it the lightest, most powerful, and cleanest sounding compact PA system we have ever offered. Features include Bluetooth® technology with its own volume control, a 155-watt NEOLITE 6.5″ Woofer, and our highly efficient 1.5″ 60-watt Tweeter. XLR pass-through on both channels allows independent control of mics without affecting the signal sent to the house PA. A –20dB Pad switch on each XLR input ensures that even the hottest signals will be accepted without overdriving the inputs. An additional 1/8″ Line input on Channel 2 will accept stereo or mono signals from sources including tape or digital media players as well as line-level instruments.

The two-way speaker system gives the PA6BT Powered Personal Monitor a much wider frequency response than earlier models. This means that full-range music, such as keyboards or backing tracks, will come through with solid bass and crisp highs. The enhanced frequency response makes the PA6BT a great stand-alone PA system for small club gigs, lectures, and A/V presentations. A simple adjustment of the 3-band EQ can tailor the response for singers who love the time-honored accentuated midrange of the classic Hot Spot vocal monitor. The PA6BT gives you the versatility you expect for diverse stage set-ups.

The PA6BT comes equipped with a built-in high-tech Class D 170-watt amplifier, designed to handle the most demanding audio environments. This proven, robust design allows the PA6BT to function both as a stand-alone powered personal monitor system or a high-powered vocal monitor designed to cut through loud stage volumes. For larger gigs that require more coverage, simply patch from the Preamp Output to the main house PA, while using the PA6BT as your onstage monitor.

The PA6BT also features a built-in 18dB Compressor/Limiter circuit with Compressor and Clip LEDs. The Compressor acts to smooth out transient peaks in the audio signal, resulting in improved overall sound quality and perceived volume. The Limiter is designed to protect the woofer and tweeter from possible damage caused by amplifier distortion. The Clip LED indicates when a reduction in volume is recommended.

“After years of wishing for a small powered speaker for my small private gigs and rehearsals, my dreams have been answered a hundredfold. The Galaxy PA6S is simply the best small monitoring system that I have ever heard that is on the market today. I am able to play 6-7 note Full piano chords, organ and synth leads at sustained high levels without ANY distortion, yet maintaining a brilliant clarity that fills rooms much larger than I thought capable of.  Nothing… I mean NOTHING, gets close!  I am a Galaxy fan for Life!”

Life Saver Sand/Water Bag LSR38

The Galaxy Audio Life Saver is a unique equipment stand stabilizer that may be used in a variety of ways in Audio, Video, Lighting, and Theatre applications. Any mic or speaker stand may become unstable because of a top-heavy center of gravity, a boom extended laterally, or simply because the stand is set on an uneven surface. When filled with Sand or Water the Life Saver provides enough weight at the bottom to stabilize most mic and speaker stand applications. The doughnut shape of the LSR38 ensures that the Life Saver will stay on the base of the stand, even if the stand is pushed or bumped. The LSR38 weighs 38lbs. when filled with sand, and 22lbs. when filled with water. The durable reinforced vinyl material and easy-fill water tight design allow the user to transport the Life Saver empty, and fill with water on location. The LSR38 dimensions are: 16" O.D. x 6" I.D. x 3" Thick. The Life Saver will pay for itself the first time it prevents your expensive mics or speakers from hitting the floor. (Sand/water not included)

  • May be filled with sand or water
  • Protects mics and speakers from damage
  • Helps keep microphone, speaker and lighting stands upright
  • Sand/Water not included
  • Unique doughnut shape keeps bag on the stand

Saddle Bag Sand/Water Bag SDB40

The Saddle Bag Sand/Water Bag is designed to help improve the stability of speaker, keyboard, mic, lighting stands and many other types of stands. Also great as a boom counterweight. The Saddle Bag is constructed of a durable reinforced vinyl. When filled with sand (not included) the Saddle Bag weighs approximately 45lbs and 28lbs when filled with water. The filled Saddle Bag will help stabilize a top- heavy stand.

Works great on keyboard, speaker, mic, lighting, and many other types of stands.

Great for: bands, churches, theater, broadcast, recording & video production

  • Dual wing design
  • Nylon handle with clip
  • May be filled with sand or water
  • Helps protect equipment from damage and keeps stands upright and stable

Sand can be acquired at most home improvement centers, concrete supply warehouses, landscaping supply houses or a sand blasting supply company. Tip: Coarse dry commercial sand works best. Use a funnel for faster fills. Equipped with large 1-inch inner diameter plugs for ease of filling.

1. We are not responsible for any damage caused by the use or misuse of the bag.
2. The water filled bag should not be used near electrical wiring.
3. Only dry sand should be used in a dry bag.
4. Water should not be left in the bag for long periods.
5. Do not subject the bag to freezing weather when filled with water.
6. The bag is not intended as a flotation device.

I had used the original passive hot spot back in the 70’s when the pre-GalaxyAudio company of Superior Sound first developed them. Fifty years later I stated a five-piece band gigging in 2015. We each bought the powered PA6 monitors and used them at rehearsal and on stage. We immediately found them indispensable units that took up much less stage floor space and put the sound closer to our ears. They are a unique compromise between sound tech controlled wedges and performer controlled in-ear monitors giving us each direct control over our own monitor volume and tone. They are very well made, light, and small but powerful. Used with multiple players and dual channel cabling, each unit can connect to the sound board so that channel 1 volume control is only for the users voice and channel 2 volume for all the other singers voices combined. The mic input is also a great tool for personal practicing singing while playing an instrument. With the upgraded PA6BT product version with Blue Tooth lets the user play along with prerecorded music, a very useful added tool. The current PA6BT and it’s PA6 predecessor are very versatile, durable, compact monitors at a very affordable price.

The PA6 powered monitor makes for a unique keyboard monitor when performing live club/concert gigs. When affixed to my keyboard stand via the SA-1 adapter (and KSA7575 from another mfg), I have an extremely powerful and easily adjusted source of my keyboard sound and does not add to my stage footprint. No matter who or what I have to contend with on any stage; Indoors or out, loud drummers, full-stacks of amps, with or without a sound engineer… I have a reliable and consistent keyboard amp. The PA6 does not offer the 3-D sound of a Leslie or ‘chest-thumping’ lows of a full-range cabinet (let the PA system handle those matters), but it is a monitor and I never have to struggle to hear exactly what I’m playing… with 170 WRMS right at my fingertips and in my face. I also discovered it to be a successful vocal/acoustic guitar monitor when used as part of my ‘coffee house’ rental PA system. I get lots of compliments from rental clients who have no experience with ‘Hot Spot’ style monitors! The reasons I selected the PA6 monitor over the competitor’s models was due to several engineering/design features I felt were more desirable and my past experience in the field with other Galaxy Audio products. I have been using the PA6 personally (and as a rental unit) for several years now without any issues.

These speakers are compact and work well for our artists in small venues. We use these in three different areas of performance.

I bought this monitor for live gigs and wound up using it for a PA speaker for my grandson’s wedding. It worked great and everyone could hear the vows.

I had used the original hot spot monitor years ago, and I always thought it worked great. I play in a band where a couple of the members were using the PA6BT, and so I bought one because of how much they liked it. I am very happy with the clarity of the speaker, as well as the portability of it. I also play on a half hour music show, and realized that the FOH for the show was using the PA6BT for checking mixes. It’s a great product for the price, and I’ll be using it for years to come I believe.
